It seems the Chinese have it right. 8 is a very lucky number. We closed on our house today, 0/08/08. The last number of our address is an 8, and last night we ate at a Chinese restaurant and my husband's fortune cookie had the lucky number as 898!.

The closing went well this morning - we just sat there and signed papers for 45 minutes. The owner of the house is a nice guy and is coming back on Thursday to hook up the tv since Comcast won't know how to - they just need to put the dvr box in the basement - or some such thing. The whole house is wired for sound and the guy put in all this fancy equipment - I have no idea how to work it but George is pleased as punch about it.

The locksmith was a little late in showing up - but that got done too - Amtrak was it's usual crappy self but we got back here to VA safe and sound and not all that late...

We are tired - it has been a long and hectic 2 days but we are now home owners..Ta Da!

We bought ourselves a housewarming gift - a delightful laughing Buddhist monk (we had one in the car on the dashboard - we just like happy Buddhist monks thingies). You look at this guy and you just have to smile - we had him sitting on the table during the closing - I think everyone thought we were nutz - who reaches down and pulls a ceramic Buddha out of a box and plunks him down in the middle of conference room table? Our laughing Buddha joined us at dinner last night as well - of course that was a Chinese restaurant so maybe it wasn't so weird there....

Tomorrow (Saturday) will be busy - finishing packing what we need to take to Philly; finish cleaning and then on the road early Sunday morning....

I might get one more post in before I go off-line for a week...
